I wasn’t sure what to expect before arriving at this unspecial looking Logan Hall in Bloomsbury. Pecha Kucha, meaning chit-chat, was originally invented in Japan to keep long architecture talks to a minimum and make them fun. Each speaker has 20 slides and 20 seconds of talking for each. This time it was the digital elite who rambled on for 6 minutes and 40 seconds. The night was enlightening, thought provoking and fun. Not a sales pitch in sight.
I did notice rather a lot of Poocha Kucha, toilets and urinals scattered throughout the presentations. Maybe these slides were a result of a little boy’s repressed toilet humour, or perhaps just an easy laugh from the audience?
Speed speakers of note included a brilliant Tom Evans from Mook, Gravy Dave Streeky (a few nicknames in there I think) from playerthree, and with his observations of the everyday, Tom Bazeley from Lean Mean. Oh, and the guy who clapped and whooped after the falling man slide.
